The BTC Crude Oil Pipeline is a strategically important energy infrastructure built to transport Azerbaijani oil to world markets via Georgia and Turkey. This pipeline, constructed with modern technology, was implemented to ensure energy security and contribute to global energy supply. The pipeline was established under the Host Government Agreement (HGA) between Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey, and this agreement has developed a strong cooperation model among the participating countries.
Under the HGA Agreement, the operation of the pipeline within Turkey's borders has been transferred to the General Directorate of BOTAŞ International (BIL), affiliated with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. This arrangement ensures that high safety standards, environmental sensitivity, and sustainable management approaches are adopted during the operation process.
The BTC pipeline, approximately 1,768 kilometers long, is equipped with environmentally friendly technologies and serves as a regional example in terms of efficiency and reliability in energy transportation. While ensuring the continuity of energy supply, it has also contributed to local economies, creating job opportunities for thousands of people.
